Fwd: Popular Trips from The World Outdoors

Hi Hiking,

Peru Machu Picchu Tour

With Machu Picchu being named recently as one of the Seven Man-Made
Wonders of the World, our Peru Tour is more popular than ever. We
operated every departure in 2007 but still had to turn away dozens of
requests due to the fact that the Inca Trail quota was often filled
months in advance.

The Inca Trail, the hiking route to Machu Picchu, has a daily
limitation of 500 people. About 75% of these spots are consumed by
guides, porters and cooks so only about 125 tourists are allowed to
enter the trail each day.

Permits for 2008 began to be issued just two weeks ago and already
some dates in the Spring are sold out. So if this trip-of-a-lifetime
is on your wishlist for 2008, you need to act soon.

I did this epic tour in October 2006 and thought it was one of our
very best. The four days of trekking and three nights of catered
camping were simply spectacular.

We explored several archaeological sites as we hiked to Machu Picchu.
Each day we were rewarded with hot soup and a sumptuous lunch and hot
tea was awaiting as we arrived in camp. We awoke on the final morning
at 12,000 feet as the clouds dissipated, revealing incredible views of
the awesome icefields of sacred Salcantay (20,574'), the area's
loftiest peak, and of the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley 4,000
feet below.

The lodging on this trip is superb--from the charm of the inner
courtyard at Casa Andina in Cusco to the beauty of the flower and
orchid gardens at our lodges in the Sacred Valley and at the Machu
Picchu Pueblo Hotel.

It's also a colorful and cultural experience--handicraft and clothing
markets, llamas and alpacas on the streets, festivals and parades
along our route, and Andean entertainment at our farewell dinner.

We have a 9-day program which includes the 4-day trek on the Inca
Trail. Or if camping isn't your thing, you might want to check out the
6-day option with just one day on the Inca Trail required to reach
Machu Picchu.

Don't miss out--start planning now and reserve your space before the
Inca Trail allocation fills.

Grand Canyon Tours

The World Outdoors now has five different itineraries to experience
the grandeur and wonder of the Grand Canyon.

Our Grand Canyon Rim-to-Rim Hiker was first introduced in 2003 and
every tour since has run at full capacity. Only one space remains for
this year's trip in late August/early September. Call today if you'd
like to join.

We have five departures scheduled for our always popular Grand Canyon
Classic Hiker --May 11, June 1, September 7, September 21 and October
12.

New in 2008 is the Grand Canyon-Colorado River-Havasu Falls Hiker.
This tour combines the best of the two trips above--a stay at Phantom
Ranch near the Colorado River in the Inner Canyon and a visit to the
Shangri-la settings of Havasu and Mooney Falls. The April 27th
departure has just two spots left and we've opened two departures in
November when the weather is cooler but the pools are still swimmable.

Finally, we have two programs that combine the Canyon's North Rim with
the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon and the towering sandstone monoliths of
Zion in southern Utah. Consider our epic Grand Canyon-Bryce-Zion Hiker
(8 departures from May thru October) or our Grand Canyon-Bryce-Zion
Multi-Sport, where we combine hiking and mountain biking with the
fast-growing sport of canyoneering (5 departures from May thru
September).
