AdSense Newsletter: Happy Holidays

Google AdSense™

Google AdSense logo

Hi Zachary Modis,

We at Google AdSense wanted to wish all our publishers happy holidays and share the exciting news about some product developments in AdSense for search. In this newsletter, you'll learn about the Custom Search Element, the new Product Ideas page, and how you can stay connected with us on Twitter and Facebook!

Sincerely,

The Google AdSense Team

Introducing the Custom Search Element

Earlier this year, we introduced Google Web Elements, which lets you add richness and interactivity to your site by copying and pasting a snippet of code onto your page. Now, we'd like to tell you more specifically about the Custom Search Element, a new way to integrate custom search on your pages. It builds upon the customization features and revenue opportunity of the Custom Search Engine, and integrates much more smoothly with the look and feel of your site. With features such as an inline search experience, complete customization, and an interactive result set, we think it will have a positive impact on your AdSense earnings.

If you don't have a search engine on your site, you can always sign in to your AdSense account, navigate to the AdSense Setup tab and click on the AdSense for search product to set it up, after which you can create a Custom Search Element. The Custom Search Element can be designed to search your own site, or use your existing search engine to search across multiple sites of your choice.

Submit your suggestions to the Product Ideas for AdSense page

What's on your AdSense wishlist for 2010? Whether you have an idea for a new AdSense feature or a suggestion to improve the product, we invite you to submit your ideas to our recently launched Product Ideas for AdSense page. You can also look through the ideas submitted by other publishers and vote on the ones you like.

While we aren't able to guarantee that all the ideas will be implemented, we can guarantee that we'll take the most popular ideas to the AdSense Product Management team for review. By submitting an idea, you agree that Google may use the idea to develop and enhance Google's products and services.

Don't wait too long to submit your ideas and votes -- the Product Ideas page will be live until Tuesday, December 15th. We look forward to hearing your suggestions!

Tygart Lake Trails in West Virginia

Even though most of the hikes I do are within the Pennsylvania state borders, I do get a chance to hike on trails outside the state. Recently I visited my daughter attending college at West Virginia University. During my visit there we stayed at Tygart Lake State Park. While the kids decided to take an afternoon siesta I opted for exploring and hiking some of the trails in the park.

PAHikes 2010 Calendars

The PA Hikes 2010 Calendar highlights various sections of the trails in Pennsylvania. Each month depicts a hike on some of the various trails found in the Keystone State. View scenes from the Mid State Trail, Loyalsock Trail, Standing Stone Trail, Chuck Keiper Trail, and many others. Enjoy the beautiful scenery that the trails of Pennsylvania have to offer even on those days you can't be there in person.

Trexler Nature Preserve Now Open

The Trexler Nature Preserve in Lehigh County opened this fall, giving residents and visitors the chance to explore the improved trails, fishing areas and natural landscape. The 1,108 acre preserve, which contains the 29-acre Lehigh Valley Zoo, was deeded to Lehigh County as a public park by businessman General Harry Trexler in 1935. At that time it was home to bison, elk and Virginia deer. A recent upgrade expanded the trail system, making hiking, biking and horseback riding easier and more enjoyable throughout the 1,108 acre campus.

Hiking on the Web - Susquehannock Trail Club

The Susquehannock Trail Club is responsible for the maintenance of the Susquehannock Trail System (STS). Not only does the club maintain the trail but also organizes hikes on the various trails. Their website is an excellent resource for anyone considering a hike on the STS. Membership and trail info along with pictures and area history make this website a great place to "Hike on the Web".
